Description

Checks whether a specified file exists in the file system.

Parameters

<file> The path to the file being checked for existence.

Return Value

Success: Returns (true) 1 if the specified file exists.
Failure: Returns (false) 0 if the specified file does not exist.

Remarks

The file path can be specified with double quotes or angle brackets.
Parentheses are optional when using this function.
This function is typically used in conditional compilation directives.

Of course all the same styles can be used such as <> or "" and optionally using ( ) and so on.
